For this week, we will be talking about The Lemon Pipers' song "Green Tambourine". This song, in my opinion, is one of the most popular one hit wonders of all time. The song has such a unique sound that is unlike any other song, I think. The song was written about an old man who played his tambourine in order to make money. The words that speak to me in this song are "drop your silver in my tambourine, help a poor man fill his pretty dream, give me pennies, I'll take anything". This shows how desperate the man is to make money and possibly start a music career.

This week, I spoke with and recorded my grandfather and asked about this week's one hit wonder. This was not exactly my grandfather's favorite song, but understands why it was popular. Around the time the song came out, bands started playing the tambourine by hitting it against their leg, which was a new way of playing it. He also says that he thinks the tambourine was a green tambourine because of the popularity of the environmental movement.
