For this week, we will be talking about Manfred Mann's Earth Band's "Blinded By The Light". This is another one hit wonder that is still fairly popular decades later. Although the song was performed by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, it was originally written by Bruce Springsteen. The song references Springsteen's childhood and many lines in the song talk about his personality and activities when he was young. The song references the Indians which was the name of the little league baseball team he was on. The lyrics show that he was too confident and was mad at the world.
What I like about the song is that it makes you feel sort of hypnotized because of the sound of the synthesizer and the guitar solo. The singer has a lot of emotion in singing the chorus of the song. The lyrics are very honest and to the point.
My grandfather mentions that the band came out with many other songs but none of the other songs were as close to popular as "Blinded By The Light" was. He mentions the song was even more popular with Manfred Mann's Earth Band then it was with Bruce Springsteen.
